  • Plaque of Honor of the Order of Civil Merit

    On May 21st, 2013, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain awarded UNA-Spain with the Plaque of Honor of the Order of Civil Merit, in recognition to its task regarding the promotion and divulgation of the values and principles of theCharter of the United Nations.

    The Ministry highlighted that UNA-Spain, for over 50 years, has been developing an extraordinary work on bringing the Spanish civil society and the values of peace, solidarity and cooperation among peoples closer.

  • Sant Jordi's Cross

    In 2012, UNA-Spain received Sant Jordi’s Cross from the Generalitat of Catalonia, in recognition to the defense and promotion of Human Rights, in its 50th anniversary.

    We must also add that two of our Presidents of Honor, Marina Bru and Francesc Casares, had already been awarded with Sant Jordi’s Cross for their personal trajectories.

  • Medal of Honor of the City Council of Barcelona

    The City Council awards the Medal of Honor to 25 people or entities with the purpose of “honoring those who, with their effort, have contributed to the development of public and civic awareness, as well as its values and virtues”.

    One of the awarded entities in 2008 was UNA-Spain, for “its important task spreading the values of the United Nations that it has performed since 1962, promoting the collaboration between the institutions and the civil society, and on occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”. This award has been a recognition of the historical ties between UNA-Spain and the City Council of Barcelona, which encourages us to carry on with our work spreading and promoting Human Rights, from the city of Barcelona to the world.

  • Recognition of the Council of Ministers

    On November 19th, 2007, on the occasion of the United Nations Day -coinciding with UNA-Spain’s 45th anniversary-, the Council of Ministers of the Government of Spain recognized the important task the United Nations Association of Spain performs all over the country regarding the divulgation of the purposes and principles of the United Nations and its activities.

  • Focal Point of the UNRIC

    Since 2004, UNA-Spain has been recognized by the United Nations as its main nexus between the Organization and the Spanish civil society. UNA-Spain acts as a Focal Point of the United Nations Regional Information Centre (UNRIC) in Brussels.

  • Peace Messenger

    In 1988, Secretary-General of the United Nations Pérez de Cuéllar, named the United Nations Association of Spain (UNA-Spain) a Peace Messenger for its contribution to the promotion of Peace.
