Nadia Murad Basee

For leading the worldwide campaign to denounce the extreme situation suffered by the Yazidi community, currently at the hands of ISIS, especially women and children; a community victim of persecution throughout history.

For her work as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, being a spokesperson for women affected by the terrorist group’s sexual violence campaigns, and for her awareness service on trafficking and slavery of people in the world.

The award was presented in Barcelona.
